Mike Kiolbassa, President of Kiolbassa Provision

Michael is a native San Antonian and began his career in the family sausage business in 1987 after a two-year period working in the commercial banking industry as a credit analyst. Since then, he has overseen the transformation of the family meat company from a small family business to one of the fastest growning meat brands in the US with national distribution of their sausage, chorizo, and dry-cured bacon. He was named one of San Antonio’s “40 under 40” rising business stars, the 2004 Small Businessperson of the Year by the Small Business Administration and a 2016 and 2020 finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award. In 2020, his company, Kiolbassa Smoked Meats was named by Forbes Magazine as one of 25 “Small Giants” in business. His company was the focus of a case study on successful transitions in family business by Stetson University’s Family Business Enterprise Center and has been named a Top Workplace in San Antonio for the past seven years.

Michael has givene numerous presentations on the power of Values-Based Leadership on the culture in his family’s company and the adoption of the Great Game of Business which is an operating system to teach employees financial literacy so that they can make better decisions.

Michael holds a BBA in finance from Southern Methodist University and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, United Way of San Antonio Board of Directors, Valero Alamobowl Board of Directors, and Christ Episcopal Church. He loves to hunt, fish, golf, snow ski, and just about anything outdoors with his family. He is married to his lovely wife, Nita and has two grown children.

Rev. Ann Helmke, Faith Liaison for the City of San Antonio

Ann Helmke is an ordained ELCA minister and serves as the Faith Liaison for the City of San Antonio. Prior to that, she served as the Director of Spiritual Services at Haven for Hope. Ann’s 30+ years of service in our city includes teaching theology and spirituality a the Univeristy of the Incarnate Word and Texas Lutheran, workshop and retreat leadership, mission development, co-founding of the all-volunteer and interfaith San Antonio Peace Center, co-authoring a couple of books, and always social justice with civic engagement. Rev. Helmke considers Peace is Our Birth Right as her most important book which pales in comparison to the seven babies she is passing peace onto in her life - 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-love, 2 gorgeous grand-boys, and 1 vivacious grand-girl!
